Recent publicity about GLSM distracts from dying lake

Recently, I have watched news reports about the lake regarding the loss of tourism dollars, event sponsorships, fish kills, etc,. it is apparent that no one around the lake wants to talk about the culprit.  These conditions are symptoms of the highly polluted waters of the Grand Lake St. Marys. The pollution has directly caused the poor economic conditions in the area.  Tourism dollars continue to drop as does service businesses' receipts and home values but no one wants to identify the culprit - the polluters of the Wabash/St. Marys watershed and the state and local agencies who continue to allow the pollution to come into the lake.

It is time for Governor Kasich to step up to the plate and take serious action to solve this problem.  The citizens of Auglaize and Mercer counties have already paid dearly in loss tax revenue, tourism dollars and property values.

This week the dissolved oxygen levels have bee reported at zero to 0.40% which is beginning to spur some fish kills.  No oxygen in the water is  from algae in the water due to the nutrient primarily due to nutrients run-off from farms in the watershed.

The GO-SLSM asks Governor Kasich to implement the GO-GLSM's "Ten Point Plan" to jump start the clean up of GLSM and significantly reduce the pollution.  If the pollution was stopped tomorrow, the lake would immediately begin healing but until this is done.  Local citizens can expect no change and have the prospects of things getting worse.
